Welcome to the 10th Anniversary\u00a0<\/span>HerringFest<\/a>, happening March 5-7, 2026 on Hornby Island.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

Sea Life Viewing Boat Tours by donation are happening on various dates from March 5 – 10 and can be booked by email request (only) at\u00a0<\/span>chiboattrips@gmail.com.<\/a><\/p>\n

HerringFest\u00a0<\/span>Opening Night<\/a>\u00a0begins with an intergenerational performance at the Community Hall, leading into the Gala opening of the community fundraiser Art Show at the Hornby Arts Centre with live music and bar.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Film Night<\/a>\u00a0on Friday features Clayoquot Action’s\u00a0documentary Salmon Secrets, with live Q&A with\u00a0the filmmakers.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

Saturday March 7th, the pinnacle of the Fest events, opens with\u00a0Herring School<\/a>\u00a0– come and see presentations from a diverse array of herring protectors including\u00a0W \u0331 I\u0106KINEM Eric Pelkey, W\u0331S\u00c1NE\u0106\u00a0Hereditary Chief, Author and Activist Briony Penn, and more.\u00a0<\/p>\n

And of course, the grand finale of HerringFest is the much loved\u00a0Herring Ball<\/a>\u00a0– celebration, dance and music sustain us for the long, long road we walk to protect and restore this critical keystone species of the Salish Sea.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

A portion of proceeds from this 10th Anniversary HerringFest will support the\u00a0W\u0331S\u00c1NE\u0106 Hereditary Chiefs’ legal proceedings towards a moratorium on commercial herring fishery in this region.\u00a0<\/p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][\/et_pb_section]\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
